Very rainy morning at St Avold today. The sand wasn't put on the graves of Bill and George because of that poor weather. The weather was better by 1 PM when I arrived at Meuse Argonne Cemetery on the grave of Frank Luke. The President, Prince Charles and some other big persons were at Verdun for the 90th Anniversary of 1918 victory. That war cost an average of 900 french soldiers killed EVERY DAY during four years ...
Very sincerely,
Arnaud

MAY 2009:
$115,000.00 was raised in the 2009 Brig. General Robert L. Scott, Jr. Memorial Golf Scramble, the Museum of Aviation's annual event honoring General Scott. This year we reached out to the RLSFCA members for contributions to the fundraiser by way of a Scotty-Book auction. THANK YOU TO: John, Gwen and Nat for bidding on the Scotty books and your generous contribution to this years event. THANK YOU also to George Fisher for donating your books from your personal library. THANK YOU to Rob and John for your added donations to the museum. All totaled, the fan club contributed $750.00, making us a FLAG SPONSOR. Appropriately, our hole was #7! This years tournament was held once again at the Healy Point Country Club, Macon, GA.Our four-sum consisted of Yours truly (Marilynn), George Fisher, Emmett Steele and Mayor/Major David Carter. What a group ... we had a great time starting off with breakfast at Healy Point:Egg & Sausage breakfast wrap, fresh fruit, donuts, juice and coffee. Then Tee-off at 8:30 a.m. After a fun round of golf (including being interviewed by a local tv station) we had lunch on the outside terrace of the country club. Later that night, we returned for the evening reception featuring an awesome buffet of roast beef, chicken pastas, salads, rolls, and desserts that I wish I had been able to eat MORE of - tiramisu, banana's foster, cheesecake, fresh strawberries and more!! The awards ceremony was held after dinner with some very nice prizes given to the top four groups. Click on PHOTO in our navigation bar at upper left for more pictures from the event under Scotty Golf.

February 14, 2010: Happy Valentine's Day ... memories!
MEMORIES OF GENERAL SCOTT are all around us this February ..... looking in our "Scotty shoe box" found this letter from 2002!!
BELOW: "THANK YOU" to Ben, Miles and Mike for sharing your General Scott story with the fan club this past month. It’s great to hear about how General Scott inspired you once upon a time and how he continues to inspire you years later.
Even though Scotty was my favorite hero, I never really came out and told him that. He didn't really like people making a big fuss over him even though he was a big deal to us all. I met Scotty during his really active time of Fund Raisers for the Museum. I was the Sales Manager for Eddie Wiggins Ford Lincoln Mercury who was Chairman of the board at the Museum so it put me in a position to help Scotty on some of the fundraiser's. This was the fastest way to gain his friendship because he had such a love for this Museum. I was at a lot of functions that he attended and supported. It was special to be in the same room and watch him work through the crowd and watch all heads turn to watch him walk through. He would always stop and visit with anyone that had a question or wanted to speak to him.
My favorite story to tell about General Scott was the day that he sat in my office waiting for his Lincoln Mark VIII to be serviced, as we chatted and I was digging to hear a war story, I told Scotty that my wish was to have a rare photo of him standing by one of his war ships. After chatting for a while, He asked if he could borrow a car while they finished the service on his Lincoln. So I went out and started up a new Town Car and walked him to it. I said to him" Take your time and I will be sure that your car is ready when You return. He was gone for about an hour and walked back into my office with his arms full of rolled up prints of all sizes and let them roll out on my desk. They were all professional photos and Paintings of him taken by different warships in locations all over the world.I asked him if I got to choose the one that I wanted and he said "No, Benny, they all are yours to keep." Needless to say, these prints are among my most cherished treasures today.
I am enclosing a picture of the inside front cover of GOD IS MY CO PILOT which is one that he gave me from the original prints and signed it on my 50th birthday. What a birthday gift!!! The other picture is one of Scotty,Mike Wallace, and myself hanging around the Museum one day after lunch.

I read God is my Co-pilot when I was around 15 years old and fell in love with the WWII generation and its hero's. I find that I look back to the generation I grew up with (WWII) and get comfort in reflecting on their courage, values & integrity. The world's values today lack these things for the most part so that is why "Scotty" means so much to me. I am building a model of his P-40 and need help with the paint colors. From what I have been able to find on various websites the number on the tail was painted out but-is this correct? (The photo on your website shows it). I figured that if anyone knows it would be you. Do you have a close up of the Japanese flags on the side of his ship? How many should be there? My father-in-law's best friend shot down the last Jap airplane just before the war was over. He passed away before I found this out. I hate the fact that all them are leaving us! What history and knowledge they will take with them.
Thanks, Miles
I exchanged letters with General Scott just before I was called to Active Duty. He mentioned to stop by if I ever got out west. Long story (a little shorter) left from Fort Belvior, VA in early 1982, heading for new post at Sierra Depot, California. Was authorized 10 days travel, drove like a bat (made it in 6 days) to make sure I had plenty of time to ... See Moredetour to AZ. I visited him at his home and got to spend most of the day. Later I invited him to visit me at Sierra. He was my overnight guest and was quartered at the VIP suite at the BOQ. Gave him tour of depot, meeting with my CO, we had wonderful time. I arranged gifts for him, we gave him 20mm Shell and Flying Tigers golf club. Before he even knew about that, when he first arrived he gave me several autographed books and a lithograph of himself in a combat action, that just happened to be 40th anniversary of the combat action depicted. What a wonderful couple of days that was...

GENERAL SCOTT MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
FRIDAY, APRIL 16, 2010
I always look forward to April for General Scott's annual golf tournament. Macon, Georgia is beautiful in April and Healy Point Country Club is a wonderful host for the event. It's an opportunity to see the museum folks we've made friends with over the years. I'm lucky to live a mere 360 miles south, so I can make this annual event by car or motorcycle. Our 4-some always takes the 8 AM Shotgun start. That means wake up at 5:30 to get ready, leave the house at 6:30, get to Healy Point by 7 - check in, get name tag, commemorative T-Shirt, buy our mulligans and eat breakfast at the morning buffet, then go hit some balls at the driving range and be ready for our 8 AM start. (note to self - eat less and hit more practice balls!!)
Our 4-sum was the same as last year: myself, George Fisher, Emmett Steele, Mayor/Major David Carter. We are lucky that David was a member at Healy Point and can tell us where to aim (except for putting on Hole #8 - it don't matter for "hole number 8 - ain't no break". I am the worst golfer in the group - but I think I laugh the loudest - what a great time we have on the golf course. I can hardly wait till next year already. The evening celebration is always a fantastic time with an awesome array of food at the buffet, concluding with speeches and awards. This year, we missed the evening celebration and opted for something equally worthy - that was a Red White and Blue good ol' Americana BASEBALL GAME honoring Georgia's 48th Brigade which Joe Fisher's high school honored by wearing their patch on their uniforms this school year. It was Military Appreciation night and I was thankful we could be part of that celebration as well (and let's not forget Joe Fisher's HOME RUN that night - what a way to top the day and end our night!)
On behalf of George, Guerry and David, I would like to extend a great big "THANK YOU"
to our fan club members who once again made this years "SCOTTY BOOK AUCTION" a success. The fan club raised enough money to have an RLSFCA SPONSORSHIP in General Scott's Memorial Golf Tournament. All proceeds from the fan club book auction go to the Museum Of Aviation, Warner Robins, Georgia. The place that Scotty always said "gave me a purpose in life". I'd also like to say THANK YOU to Sir Ernie Hamilton Boyette, aviation artist, for his generous contribution to our auction by donating one of his limited edition prints of 'OLD EXTERMINATOR' signed by both artist and General Scott ... so THANK YOU SIR ERNIE!! Be sure to check out his website for his fantastic stories with General Scott at http://www.aviationartstore.com/robert_scott_2.htm
Following is from the Museum Of Aviation's website: A total of 224 golfers and 125 businesses and individuals stepped up to honor the memory of General Robert L. Scott Jr. at the 5 th Annual Memorial Golf Tournament at Healy Point Country Club April 16, 2010. The event was blessed with perfect weather, a green manicured course and great food offerings from Healy Point.
“I’m so proud of Macon and the Middle Georgia community for its support of the 5th Annual Robert L. Scott, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament held April 16 at Healy Point Country Club in Macon,” said Tournament Chairman Carolyn Crayton. “It was a wonderful event to honor and remember a man we all miss so much -- Macon’s native son and great American Brig. Gen. Robert L. Scott, Jr – and to support our wonderful Museum of Aviation.” ....

MEMORIAL DAY GREETINGS TO ALL OUR FAN CLUB MEMBERS!!
Hope you're all stuffed with burgers off the grill, potato salad and full of watermelon to start the summer off with this first holiday weekend!
Memorial Day weekend 2010 came roaring in like a lion ... errrr make that A T I G E R - for Turner Classic Movie Channel started their weekend long war movie schedule with GOD IS MY CO-PILOT on Friday at 2PM. It's been a long long LONG time since I saw our hero's life story on tv. What a treat (and THANKS DAD for calling me to let me know my favorite movie was airing!). I hope all you Scotty Fans got a chance to see it as well.
GOD IS MY CO-PILOT was a very fitting way to top off an already memorable week your Fan Club Founders and yours truly started back on Monday. On Monday, May 24, George Fisher, Guerry Bruner, David DeVore and me (Marilynn Pantera) were interviewed by a film producer who is working on a documentary on GENERAL SCOTT!! We were thrilled when we found out a documentary of our hero was being produced and the Robert L. Scott Fan Club Association would be part of the documentary! Scotty LOVED all you fans - and you love him - and we made sure to tell that in our story.
The film will be used for educational purposes at the Museum of Aviation, Warner Robins, Georgia AND hopefully for broadcast on Georgia PBS stations. (stay tuned for updates as this exciting story unfolds)
Speaking of the MUSEUM OF AVIATION - we made a trip there too this week. We toured the Robert L. Scott Exhibit which is a MUST for any fan; and we toured the new WWII Hangar that recently opened. Fans, YOU HAVE to visit the Museum of Aviation - its a wonderful museum - words cannot do justice to the history and education that this museum is committed and dedicated to providing the public. And just think - General Scott worked here everyday of his life 'till he was almost 98 years old ... so YES, it's that good!
Memories of General Scott on this holiday bring to mind three of his favorite sayings for me. If the opportunity presents itself, I like to use Scotty's words to inspire the younger generation -
1) "Fate and Destiny"
2) "I never followed the herd"
3) "Not for school, but for life we learn"
Do you have a favorite "Scotty Quote"? If so, we'd love to hear from you at fan club headquarters! Drop us an email at rlsfca@aol.com and let us know! As always, we love to share your "Scotty Story" with the other fans - and don't forget pictures of Scotty - those put us OVER THE TOP!
Happy Memorial Day to all our wonderful General Scott fan club members! Thanks for your emails over the years and keep 'em coming! We never tire of talking Scotty with y'all!
God Bless America and God Bless our Troops
On behalf of our founders George, Guerry and David,
Wishing all our Robert L. Scott Fan Club Members a Happy 4th of July!!
Ahhh - the red, white and blue of this holiday speaks GENERAL SCOTT and it sure is our lucky day to have received the email below this holiday weekend!
There is nothing more to say except ENJOY the email and the 3 attachments from our newest fan club member, Don Putnam.
And THANK YOU DON for these attachments - the likes of which I have never seen before in all my Scotty searches!
We sure lucked out having found you via the internet! Thank you for sharing a piece of SCOTTY HISTORY with us today!
Will certainly add your email and photos to our website's NEWSLETTER PAGE for all to see in cyberspace!
God Bless America!
God Bless our Troops!

Hello Marilynn. it certainly is nice to meet you and learn of your club. I think its wonderful that you and others are remembering a true American hero.
I just scanned your website, it looks great and will take sometime to visit it and perhaps contribute a story or two.. I am attaching a couple items from the 1949 Williams AFB- Chandler Arizona year-book. "The Fighter School" Col Scott assumed command October 4, 1948. if the verbiage is not clear, I will re-type it if you like. I am in my mid eighties and slowing down a little, have a safe and happy 4th of July, 2010,
Cheers,

November 20, 2010: 36 years ago today -
Today, November 20, holds special meaning to us here at Fan Club Headquarters... for today - 36 years ago - is what got the fan club started! The very first letter from General Scott! Who knew back in 1974 that some 36 years later a documentary of General Scott's life would be in the works and that his Fan Club would have a part in the film. TODAY - November 20, 2010 - 36 years to the day, a reenactment with child actors playing George - Guerry - David was filmed!! Check out these photos from today's shoot - depicting April 1975, waiting to meet Gen. Scott in their very first in person meeting. What an exciting day for George, Guerry and David!! We will keep you posted as to the completion of the documentary and where/when it will be aired.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we are especially THANKFUL for one Brig. General Robert L. Yes ladies and gentlemen, this represents the very beginning of the Robert L. Scott Fan Club Association and for that we are thankful!

YOU CAN HELP the Museum on behalf of Scotty and the FAN CLUB by helping sponsor the 6th Annual B/Gen Robert L. Scott Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, April 15, 2011, in one of the following ways:
1) Player $150 - fee includes green fees, cart, shirt, range balls, lunch and dinner celebration
2) Hole Sponsor $400
3) Flag Sponsor $750
4) Tournament Sponsor $2500
5) Super Sponsor $5000
(see a copy of the Golf Invitation above in our February 11th post)
WHILE we realize that the above amounts may be a far stretch for most of us, perhaps you feel like we do and maybe would like to “give back” in memory of the MAN who has shaped our lives in such a positive manner. We are, after all, 300 (plus) members strong, and since we charge NO MEMBERSHIP FEE, well….
In order to provide the proper INCENTIVE for this “request”— we have scoured every nook and cranny here at Fan Club Headquarters and found a few jewels that every Scotty fanatic should love to add to their collection. A starting bid is noted by each item - HIGHEST BIDDER WINS. In case of a tie - the highest bid at the earliest time wins. Did we mention Tax Deductible yet? Not yet - OK. your donation is tax deductible with your check payable to the Museum Of Aviation.

April 12: Happy Birthday General Scott - Our Hero - Our Friend...
May 30: - Memorial Day 2011
Thoughts of our Hero, Brigadier General Robert L. Scott, Jr., this holiday weekend bring us first to last month's golf tournament sponsored by the Museum of Aviation, Warner Robins, GA and the Fan Club's annual book auction to support the cause! On behalf of George, Guerry and David, I want to give a big "THANK YOU" to all the fans who took part in our book auction, helping to raise money for the Museum of Aviation. Once again, due to your efforts, the RLSFCA was a Flag Sponsor for this annual event. The Fan Club was represented by George Fisher who made sure we had a photo for today's news. Hopefully we can get enough of General Scott's autographed books for another auction next March ... maybe a Comic Book or two again?? Keep your fingers crossed!
I hope you all have a blessed Memorial Holiday weekend, honoring your heroes and loved ones whom we give thanks for their contributions in their lifetime and their sacrifice.
Your Scotty Friend,

VETERAN'S DAY -
November 11, 2011
The RLS Fan Club wishes to say "THANK YOU FOR SERVING" to all of you who gave selflessly to keep our great country "the land of the free and the home of the brave". Today, Veteran's Day, is your day and we honor you.
This Veteran's Day 2011 is especially exciting for the Fan Club, because the long awaited Robert L. Scott, Jr. documentary by award winning producer, David Druckenmiller, is complete. The documentary includes General Scott telling his own story, PLUS, a host of others whose lives he impacted - including some youngsters who decided to make a FAN CLUB way back in 1975!!
"WWII Flying Ace: Robert L. Scott" will be shown in the theater at the Museum of Aviation and the hope is for it to go nationwide on PBS stations. Right now, Georgia PBS will be the first to air the documentary on November 10th, just in time for Veteran's Day - details are below in the producer's email to the Fan Club:
"Good news! "WWII Flying Ace: Robert L. Scott" is officially scheduled to air on
Nov 10th at 7:30pm on Georgia Public Broadcasting. In addition, 'Flying Ace' will be
preceded by "Papa Said, We Should Never Forget" at 7:00PM.
Hoping you might have a chance to watch them in preparation for Veterans Day.
(Both films will also repeat on Nov 13th - 'Flying Ace' at 6:00pm & 'Papa Said' at 6:30pm)"
What a personal privilege to be involved in these projects and even more
a privilege to be able to work with each of you in producing them.
Sincerely,
David Druckenmiller
So, all you lucky Fan Club Members living in Scotty's home state of Georgia, mark your calendar for Nov 10th - stock up on the popcorn and get ready to spend the night with General Scott & friends* telling his life story in his own words (in what I affectionately call his 'southernese') and as only he can tell!
*One friend being our very own George Fisher representing the FAN CLUB!
So 'CONGRATS GEORGE' on your film debute!! Myself, Guerry and David are so proud and thrilled for you! We all sure had fun up in Macon last year preparing for the film and working with the producer - cameraman - makeup - sound ... so exciting. Glad you are our spokesperson!!
Merry Christmas 2011 - Yes, it's the most wonderful time of the year - celebrating with the official "SCOTTY HOLIDAY COLLECTION". For George, Guerry & David, I wish all our Fan Club Members a very Merry Christmas!
